Haute Couture Fashion Week: Christian Dior – Yahoo News

A crowd of celebrities came out to view Raf Simons’ latest collection, which has a distinctly retro feel. On a giant platform outside the Parisian museum today, models showcased the 1960s-inspired looks of the Christian Dior Spring-Summer 2015 haute couture collection. The designer chose to play with contrasting volumes, namely in long, loose and transparent trench coats worn over embroidered mini-dresses. Flared skirts also made a strong showing, echoing the French fashion house’s signature design codes. Colorful stripe motifs are a recurring theme in the collection, along with other groovy geometric prints seen in jumpsuits, bodysuits and dresses. As usual at Dior, flowers moved here in the mix too, either in prints or in intricate embroidery.

Haute couture fashion week: Schiaparelli – Yahoo News

Created in the absence of the Italian designer’s leadership, the Spring-Summer 2015 collection is a collaborative effort from the entire Schiaparelli design team. While Versace chose to play up feminine curves in sensual, close-fitting gowns, Schiaparelli presented only a couple of tight dresses. Instead, the focus in this collection is on ample tailoring and fluid fabrics, with a particular emphasis on wide-legged pants. The waists are typically worn high, sometimes even just above the chest. The fashion house’s signature design codes are well represented, as seen in the wide and prominent shoulders in a number of looks. The prints are abstract, with loads of flashy colors (green, red, orange), a few darker shades (midnight blue, brown, pastel blue, black, white) and shimmery accents.

Dutch fashion designer Frans Molenaar dies at age 74 – Yahoo News

introduced this on the heels (pun intended) of its popular mani-cam, which affords close-up looks at manicures and jewelry. This time, its tight shots of shoes and the feet that wear them. All was well, but I kept waiting for somebodys funky crooked toe to kill the glam. Distracting Arguably, that was the most interesting part of the red carpet broadcasts that began at 4 p.m. with E!s pre-pre-show and ended when hosts Tina Fey and Amy Poehler took the stage. Thanks to celebrity stylists, critical fashion reporters and cautious stars, red carpet shows are, with very few exceptions, tasteful, safe and boring. Where are you, Cher and Bjork?

Molenaar’s design house says he died in an Amsterdam hospital on Friday following a fall at his home Dec. 22. Fellow designer Mart Visser told national broadcaster NPO Radio 1 on hawaiian jewerly Monday that Molenaar was a pioneer in the Dutch fashion world known for his “architectural style” of clothes. As well as designing high fashion, including a wedding dress for the bride of Dutch King Willem Alexander’s cousin Prince Bernhard, Molenaar also embraced commercial projects such as creating clothing for garbage men and street cleaners in The Hague in the late 1960s and recently designing a walking frame. Molenaar’s funeral is scheduled for Thursday in Amsterdam.

Highs and lows in fashion from the Golden Globes – Yahoo News

The Merchandise Planning module supports the creation of new collections with overall budgets that can be allocated to product and market attributes as the collection and line plans evolve — streamlining processes. “The ability to compare and import budgets from external sources at the line level offers more efficiency and further streamlines the planning process,” said Robert McKee, industry strategy director, Fashion, Infor. “During the development process, being able to collaborate with suppliers and partners in the value chain from an early stage is paramount to success in the fashion industry.” In addition, the new Partner Collaboration module provides secure 24×7 web access for the exchange of information on styles, specification packs, update requests/comments, measurements, quotes, tests/standards and more, to avoid time lags and reduce communication errors. In order to provide integration to both Infor and third party applications a Connector Toolbox has been introduced. This includes standard integration to Infor M3 , which reduces the need for testing and time to value from the implementation.

It was superglamorous and a little bit edgy,” she said. Extending last year’s red trend was standout Viola Davis in Donna Karan Atelier. Her sisters in sultry red included Allison Williams, Lena Dunham and Helen Mirren. And there was plenty for us to love or hate, including a daring white Vera Wang Collection gown for “Gone Girl” co-star Rosamund Pike. She showed off midriff cutouts, a strappy barely there back and plunging neckline soon after giving birth. The look was criticized by some as ill-fitting at the top but lauded by Aya Kanai, executive fashion director of Cosmopolitan and Seventeen, as “white hot and sexy.” A chartreuse Gucci column gown worn by Naomi Watts with a knockout diamond Bulgari Serpenti necklace was a questionable color to others while she was lauded as a vision by Joyann King, editor of HarpersBazaar.com. “I love how she took the classic Old Hollywood glamour equation memorable hue, over-the-top jewels, red lip and Veronica Lake curls and made it completely relevant on today’s modern carpet,” King said.
