Toronto Lauches A Men’s Fashion Week | Styleblazer

“I stretched silk across a wood frame and hand-painted big green waves,” she remembers of her first print, which was copied by more than one fast-fashion retailer. Those hand-painted prints evolved into computer-designed prints, and the trippy multicolored geometric shapes became a brand signature, buoying sales. “The prints gave me a voice and allowed me to make so many more pieces of clothing,” the designer says. “She worked around the clock,” says Carly Jo Morgan, an artist and the designer of the All for the Mountain jewelry collection, who was interning for Hoffman at the time. “Seeing that grass-roots way of getting your business going and the passion Mara put behind it, where she is now makes perfect sense. Nothing was handed to her.” Swimwear was a natural progression in 2008 and, as it turned out, another smart business move. “Ready-to-wear is a hard, super-saturated business with a lot of talented people making clothes.

Just kidding! But we suspect the recent launch of Torontos Official Mens Fashion Week (TOM) will definitely help to highlightthe city (and country) morefor fashion moving forward. Thats not to knock Torontos existing fashion week, which features both womenswear and menswear designer collections, along with unisex brands like Joe Fresh. However, becoming the eighth city in the world to launch a menswear specific fashion week will obviously put a bigger spotlight on Toronto and lend seriousness to the citys dedication to competitively presenting fashion from its resident designers on aglobal scale with leaders like London, Paris and Milan. According to Toronto Life , TOM founderJeff Rustia, explained his thoughts on the important of establishing a separate mens fashion week saying, Logistically, it doesnt make sense to lump the men in with the women, because [the labels] have their own buyers, editors and audience. Agreed.Although, we cant but help think about the fact that we may start running out of calendar days and weeks to dedicate to the many fashion weeks taking place globally almost all year round.

Fashion Collections Big On Collaboration – The Orange County Register

Its great for shooting travel, children and food. The other benchmark lens from Lensbaby is called the Composer pro, here you have the same basic mechanism of the tilt option and Bokeh effect, but you can tell the lens where to stay put and not have to hand hold the lens in place. This lens also provides you with many more options in terms of the kind of look and feel you image could have, as you can insert different optics into this lens to get different effects. I started using Lensbabies in 2009, and have had a wonderful time experimenting with these lenses. The most exciting and fun thing about it for me is never knowing what type of unique or crazy effect I’m going to get! well, by now I have a pretty good idea as I am experienced with them, and still, they manage to surprise me even today.

This spring we partnered with McCafe to launch a Student Design Competition. The winner will collaborate with HFR and Project Runway alumni Kimberly Goldson to create the red carpet look for the McDonald’s 11th annual 365Black Awards host Janell Snowden. The competition for the awards was stiff, but a winner emerged: TraVonne Walker from Bowie State University.
